About Elizabeth Taylor

Dame Elizabeth Taylor was a British and American actress, born on 27 February 1932 in Hampstead Garden Suburb, London, to socially prominent American parents. She died on 23 March 2011. She made her acting debut in There's One Born Every Minute in 1942, and was later signed by MGM.

Taylor became a teen star after National Velvet in 1944. She moved into mature roles in the 1950s with Father of the Bride and A Place in the Sun, and starred in Ivanhoe. She was one of the most popular stars of classical Hollywood cinema in the 1950s and became the world's highest-paid movie star in the 1960s. In 1999 the American Film Institute ranked her seventh among the greatest female screen legends.
