About Richard Kiel

Richard Kiel was an American actor, born on 13 September 1939 in Detroit, Michigan. His height was the result of a condition caused by an excess of human growth hormone. When he was nine years old his family moved to the Greater Los Angeles area, where he graduated from Baldwin Park High School. Before acting he worked as a door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman, a nightclub bouncer and a cemetery plot salesman.

Kiel was best known for playing Jaws in The Spy Who Loved Me in 1977 and Moonraker in 1979, and Mr. Larson in Happy Gilmore in 1996. His other films included The Longest Yard, Silver Streak, Force 10 from Navarone, Cannonball Run II, Pale Rider and Tangled. On television he played the giant alien in the 1962 Twilight Zone episode To Serve Man. His career also included co-authoring books.
