About Rita Hayworth

Rita Hayworth was an American actress, dancer and pin-up girl, born on 17 October 1918 in New York City. She achieved fame in the 1940s as one of the top stars of the Golden Age of Hollywood, and appeared in 61 films over 38 years. She died on 14 May 1987.

Hayworth is widely known for Gilda in 1946, opposite Glenn Ford, her first major dramatic role, in which she played a femme fatale. She also appeared in Only Angels Have Wings, The Strawberry Blonde, Blood and Sand, The Lady from Shanghai and Separate Tables. Fred Astaire, with whom she made two films, once called her his favorite dance partner, and she starred with Gene Kelly in the musical Cover Girl. She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960.
