About Tippi Hedren

Tippi Hedren is an American former actress, born on 19 January 1930 in New Ulm. She began as a fashion model, appearing on the covers of Life and Glamour magazines, and became an actress after the director Alfred Hitchcock discovered her in a television commercial in 1961. She has performed in over 80 films and television shows.

Hedren received worldwide recognition for two Hitchcock films, The Birds in 1963, which won her a Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year, and Marnie in 1964. She also appeared in Charlie Chaplin's final film A Countess from Hong Kong, Citizen Ruth and I Heart Huckabees. She has received the Jules Verne Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her commitment to animal rescue led her to found the Roar Foundation in 1983.
