About Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes is an American professional football quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. Born Patrick Lavon Mahomes II on 17 September 1995 in Tyler, he played college football for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, winning the Sammy Baugh Trophy as a junior after leading the FBS in passing yards and total touchdowns.

The Chiefs selected Mahomes 10th overall in the 2017 NFL draft, and he spent his rookie season as the backup to Alex Smith. He became the starter in 2018 and threw for 5,097 yards and 50 touchdowns, winning NFL Offensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player. In 2019 he led the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl in 50 years, winning Super Bowl LIV and Super Bowl MVP. He won Super Bowl LVII and Super Bowl LVIII as well, and he has led the team to seven consecutive AFC Championship Game appearances and five Super Bowl appearances, winning three. In 2020 he signed a 10-year contract extension worth over $450 million.
