About Sue Bird

Sue Bird is an American former basketball player, born on 16 October 1980 in Syosset. She played professionally for 20 years in the United States and Russia. In high school she was the New York State Player of the Year, and at the University of Connecticut she won the Wade Trophy and the Naismith Award as College Player of the Year in 2002, finishing with a record of 114 wins and 4 losses.

The Seattle Storm drafted Bird first overall in 2002, and she played her entire WNBA career with the club. She won a joint-record four WNBA championships (2004, 2010, 2018, 2020), five Olympic gold medals and four FIBA World Cups, and was selected to thirteen All-Star teams. In Russia she played for Dynamo Moscow, Spartak Moscow Region and UMMC Ekaterinburg, winning five Premier League championships and five EuroLeague Women titles. She retired after the 2022 WNBA season.
