About Axel Rodrigues de Arruda

Axel Rodrigues de Arruda, simply known as Axel, is a Brazilian football coach and former midfielder, born on 9 January 1970 in Santos. He is assistant coach of the Santos under-16 team.

He began with Portuários, then moved through the youth sides of Santos and Portuguesa Santista, and made his senior debut for Santos in 1989. He became a starter in 1990 and formed a midfield partnership with César Sampaio. He joined São Paulo in January 1994, was loaned to Sevilla in 1997, and later had spells at Bahia, Atlético Paranaense, Sport Recife and Cerezo Osaka.
