About Dejan Jakovic

Dejan Jakovic is a Canadian soccer player who plays as a centre-back for the Serbian White Eagles. He was born on 16 July 1985 in Karlovac, in what was then SR Croatia, and his parents brought him to Canada at the age of six, settling in Etobicoke.

Jakovic took up soccer in Canada and was a four-year letterwinner at Scarlett Heights Academy. He played in the Canada national youth program and for the Woodbridge Strikers, and had a trial with OFK Beograd at the age of eighteen before accepting a scholarship to the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He represented the Canada national team from 2008 to 2018.
