About Dida

Dida, whose full name is Nélson de Jesus Silva, is a Brazilian former football goalkeeper and goalkeeping coach. He was born on 7 October 1973 in Irará. He started his senior club career in Brazil in the early 1990s with Vitória before moving to Cruzeiro and Corinthians.

Dida spent ten years at AC Milan, from 2000 to 2010. There he won one Serie A title and the UEFA Champions League twice, the first after saving three penalties in the 2003 final against Juventus. He was the inaugural FIFPro Goalkeeper of the Year. He later returned to Milan as goalkeeping coach from 2020 to 2022. He earned 91 caps for Brazil over eleven years, winning the FIFA World Cup and an Olympic medal, and is the most successful player in the history of the FIFA Confederations Cup.
