About Mark Hughes

Mark Hughes is a Welsh football manager and former player, born on 1 November 1963 in Wrexham. During his playing career he usually operated as a forward or midfielder, and he retired from playing in 2002.

Hughes had two spells at Manchester United and also played for Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Southampton, Everton and finally Blackburn Rovers. He made 72 appearances for Wales, scoring 16 goals. His honours include two Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups and two UEFA Cup Winners' Cups, and he was the first player to win the PFA Players' Player of the Year award twice, in 1989 and 1991. As a manager he led Wales from 1999 to 2004, then Blackburn, Manchester City, Fulham, Queens Park Rangers, Stoke City, Southampton, Bradford City and Carlisle United.
