About Odion Ighalo

Odion Ighalo is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a forward. Born Odion Jude Ighalo on 16 June 1989 in Lagos, he started his career at the Nigerian clubs Prime and Julius Berger before moving to the Norwegian club Lyn in 2007.

A year later Udinese signed Ighalo, and he spent most of his tenure on two loan spells with Granada. In 2014 he signed for Watford and was integral in the club's promotion to the Premier League in 2014 to 2015. In January 2017 he joined Changchun Yatai for a reported £20 million, then moved on to Shanghai Shenhua, and in January 2020 he joined Manchester United on loan. He made his Nigeria debut in March 2015 against Uganda and represented the nation at the 2018 World Cup. He led Nigeria to third place at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, finishing as top scorer and in the Team of the Tournament.
