About Takumi Horiike

Takumi Horiike is a former Japanese football player who played for the Japan national team. He was born on 6 September 1965 in Shizuoka. He was educated at Shimizu Higashi High School, where he won the national high school championship with teammates including Katsumi Oenoki and Kenta Hasegawa, and continued at Juntendo University.

After graduating in 1988 he joined the Japan Soccer League team Yomiuri, playing as a defensive midfielder and then centre back, partnered with Hisashi Kato. He joined the newly founded Shimizu S-Pulse in 1992 as a right full back, was chosen for the Best Eleven in 1993, and moved to Cerezo Osaka in 1998. He was capped 58 times for Japan and scored two goals between 1986 and 1995, debuting on 1 August 1986 in a friendly against Malaysia.
