About Zico

Zico, whose full name is Arthur Antunes Coimbra, is a Brazilian football coach and former player who played as an attacking midfielder. He was born on 3 March 1953 in Rio de Janeiro. He is a creative playmaker with strong technical skills and vision, and is considered one of the best free kick specialists in history.

Zico was elected Player of the Year in 1981 and 1983, came seventh in the 1999 FIFA Player of the Century vote and was named in the FIFA 100 list in 2004. He scored 48 goals in 71 official appearances for Brazil, making him the fifth highest goalscorer for the national team, and he played at the 1978, 1982 and 1986 World Cups. As a coach he led Japan to the 2004 Asian Cup and the 2006 World Cup. He has also coached Fenerbahçe, CSKA Moscow, Olympiacos and Iraq.
