About Andy Roddick

Andrew Stephen Roddick is an American former professional tennis player. He was born on 30 August 1982 in Omaha. He retired from the sport following the 2012 US Open to focus on his work at the Andy Roddick Foundation.

Roddick was ranked world No. 1 in men's singles by the ATP for 13 weeks, including as the year-end No. 1 in 2003. He won 32 ATP Tour-level singles titles, including a major at the 2003 US Open and five Masters events, and led the United States to the 2007 Davis Cup title. He was runner-up at four other majors, Wimbledon in 2004, 2005 and 2009 and the US Open in 2006, losing to Roger Federer each time. He finished in the year-end top 10 for nine consecutive years from 2002 to 2010. He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2017.
