About Elena Vesnina

Elena Sergeyevna Vesnina is a Russian former professional tennis player who was world No. 1 in doubles. She was born on 1 August 1986 in Lviv. She is a four-time Grand Slam champion.

Vesnina won the 2013 French Open, 2014 US Open and 2017 Wimbledon Championships in women's doubles with compatriot Ekaterina Makarova, and the 2016 Australian Open in mixed doubles with Bruno Soares. She became world No. 1 for the first time in June 2018 alongside Makarova, and she won 19 doubles titles on the WTA Tour, including the 2016 WTA Finals. In singles she reached a career-high ranking of world No. 13 in March 2017, won three WTA singles titles, including the 2017 Indian Wells Open, and reached the semifinals at Wimbledon in 2016. She won gold with Makarova at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
