About Maria Kirilenko

Maria Kirilenko is a Russian former professional tennis player, born on 25 January 1987 in Moscow. She was a junior Grand Slam champion at the 2002 US Open at the age of 15, and went on to become a top-ten player in both singles and doubles.

Kirilenko won six WTA Tour singles titles and 12 doubles titles. She was a three-time major singles quarterfinalist, at the 2010 Australian Open, the 2012 Wimbledon Championships and the 2013 French Open. She reached the semifinals at the 2012 London Olympics, where she lost to Victoria Azarenka in the bronze medal match, and her career-high singles ranking was world No. 10 on 10 June 2013. In doubles she reached No. 5 on 24 October 2011 and played two major finals, at the 2011 Australian Open with Azarenka and the 2012 French Open with her compatriot Nadia Petrova.
