About Marion Jones

Marion Jones is an American former world champion track and field athlete and former professional basketball player. She was born on 12 October 1975 in Los Angeles. She has also used the married name Marion Jones-Thompson, and she competed at a high level in two different sports.

Jones played college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels, where she won the NCAA championship in 1994. She later played two seasons of professional basketball in the Women's National Basketball Association, as a point guard for the Tulsa Shock. In track and field she competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, and was a world champion in the sport.
