About Sergey Brin
Sergey Brin is an American computer scientist and businessman, born on 21 August 1973 in Moscow into a Russian-Jewish family. His full name is Sergey Mikhailovich Brin. He immigrated to the United States at the age of six. He earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Maryland, College Park, studying mathematics as well as computer science.
In 1993 Brin enrolled at Stanford University to pursue a PhD in computer science, and there he met Larry Page. Together they built a web search engine, and the program became popular at Stanford. He discontinued his PhD studies to start Google in Susan Wojcicki's garage in Menlo Park, California.
At a listed 173 cm (5'8"), Brin was the president of Alphabet Inc., Google's parent company, until stepping down from the role in 2019. He remains at Alphabet as a co-founder, controlling shareholder and board member, and in 2023 he came out of retirement to contribute to AI research there.
