About Alsou

Alsou, born Alsou Ralifovna Safina on 27 June 1983 in Bugulma, is a Russian singer. She was born in the Tatar ASSR in the Soviet Union. Her father, Ralif Safin, is a former LUKoil executive and a member of the Federal Council of Russia, and her mother, Raziya Iskhakovna, is an architect.

Alsou represented Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2000, where she came second with the song Solo, right after Denmark, which gave her recognition across Europe. She hosted the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow. She was given the Merited Artist of the Russia award in 2018.
