About Shawn Mendes
Shawn Mendes is a Canadian singer, songwriter and musician, born Shawn Peter Raul Mendes on 8 August 1998 in Pickering. He gained early recognition by posting popular song covers on YouTube and Vine, and he later signed to Island Records and released a self-titled debut EP in 2014.
His debut studio album, Handwritten (2015), debuted at the top of the US Billboard 200 and featured his breakout single Stitches, which reached number one in the UK. His second album, Illuminate (2016), produced Treat You Better, Mercy and There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back. His self-titled third album featured In My Blood, and its deluxe edition included Señorita, his first US Billboard Hot 100 number one. His fourth album, Wonder (2020), made him the youngest male artist to top the Billboard 200 with four studio albums, and his fifth, Shawn, followed in 2024. His honours include eight Juno Awards and ten MTV Europe Music Awards.
