About Sufjan Stevens
Sufjan Stevens is an American singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, born on 1 July 1975 in Detroit. He has released ten solo studio albums as well as several collaborative albums with other artists, and he has received nominations for both a Grammy and an Academy Award.
His debut album, A Sun Came, was released in 2000 on Asthmatic Kitty, a label he co-founded with his stepfather. He gained wide recognition with the 2005 album Illinois, which reached number one on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart, and with its single Chicago. He later contributed to the soundtrack of the 2017 film Call Me by Your Name, and its lead single Mystery of Love brought an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song and a Grammy nomination for Best Song Written for Visual Media.
