About Zaz

Zaz, whose real name is Isabelle Geffroy, is a French singer and songwriter who mixes jazz, French variety, soul and acoustic music. She was born on 1 May 1980 in Chambray-lès-Tours. Her mother was a Spanish teacher and her father worked for an electric company. In 1985 she entered the Conservatoire de Tours, where she studied music theory, violin, piano, guitar and choral singing.

In 1994 she moved to the Bordeaux region, and in 2000 she won a scholarship that allowed her to join the CIAM, a school of modern music in Bordeaux. She is best known for the single Je veux, from her self-titled debut album, released on 10 May 2010. She has released six studio albums: Zaz, Recto verso, Paris, Effet miroir, Isa and Sains et saufs.

At a listed 162 cm (5'4"), Zaz has also released two live albums, Sans tsu tsou and Sur la route. She has sold over 5 million albums worldwide as of February 2023, including 2 million outside France.
