Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, also known as AOC, is an American politician and activist, born on 13 October 1989 in Parkchester. She is a member of the Democratic Party and of the Democratic Socialists of America.

Ocasio-Cortez was first elected to Congress in 2018, drawing national attention after defeating Democratic Caucus chair and 10-term incumbent Joe Crowley in the Democratic primary election. She was re-elected in 2020, 2022 and 2024. Taking office at age 29, she is the youngest woman ever elected to Congress. Alongside Rashida Tlaib, she was one of the first two female members of the Democratic Socialists of America elected to Congress.
