About James Comey
James Comey, whose full name is James Brien Comey Jr., is an American lawyer born on 14 December 1960 in Yonkers. He served as the seventh director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, a post he took up in 2013 after being appointed by Barack Obama in September of that year.
During the administration of George W. Bush, Comey was the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York from January 2002 to December 2003. He then served as United States deputy attorney general from December 2003 to August 2005. In August 2005 he left the Department of Justice to become a senior vice president and general counsel of Lockheed Martin. In 2010 he became general counsel at Bridgewater Associates, and in early 2013 he joined Columbia Law School as a senior research scholar and Hertog fellow on national security law. He also sat on the board of directors of HSBC Holdings until July 2013.
