About RuPaul

RuPaul, full name RuPaul Andre Charles, is an American drag queen, television host, singer, producer, writer and actor, born on 17 November 1960 in San Diego. Raised in San Diego, he studied performing arts in Atlanta, Georgia, before relocating to New York City, where he became a popular fixture on the LGBTQ nightclub scene.

RuPaul achieved international fame with the debut single Supermodel (You Better Work) in 1993, and in 1994 became a spokesperson for MAC Cosmetics. He created RuPaul's Drag Race in 2009, and also produces, hosts and judges the series. He has received 14 Primetime Emmy Awards and a Tony Award, and was included in the Time 100 list in 2017. His films include Crooklyn, The Brady Bunch Movie and To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, and he has released fifteen studio albums.
