Stefán Karl Stefánsson was an Icelandic actor and singer, born on 10 July 1975 in Hafnarfjörður. His career started in 1994, at the age of 19, when he worked as a puppeteer for television. During those years he was also studying at the Drama Academy of Iceland, although he was unsatisfied with the standards of Icelandic drama at the time.

Stefán Karl was later invited by Magnús Scheving, an Icelandic gymnast, to portray a character in the second LazyTown play. Scheving created the plays out of concern that Iceland's younger generation was not getting enough physical exercise. Scheving played Sportacus, the fitness fanatic, while Stefán Karl played Robbie Rotten, a character who preferred to stay indoors and sleep. Robbie Rotten, the antagonist of the children's television series LazyTown, became the role for which Stefán Karl was best known.

Stefán Karl stood a listed 189 cm (6'2"). He died on 21 August 2018, after a career that began in puppetry and led to his best-known role in children's television.
