About Zoe Saldana

Zoe Saldana is an American actress, born Zoë Yadira Saldaña Nazario on 19 June 1978 in Passaic. She is a trained dancer and began her acting career in 1999 with a guest role in Law & Order. Her first film role was in Center Stage in 2000, in which she played a ballet dancer.

Saldana received early recognition for Crossroads in 2002 and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl in 2003. Her breakthrough came as Nyota Uhura in the Star Trek reboot films and as Neytiri in James Cameron's Avatar series. She also played Gamora in five Marvel Cinematic Universe films, beginning with Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014. She is the recipient of an Academy Award and a BAFTA Award, and Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2023.
