About Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo is a Greek-Nigerian professional basketball player for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA), born on 6 December 1994 in Athens to Nigerian parents. His size, speed and strength earned him the nickname Greek Freak. He began playing basketball for the youth teams of Filathlitikos in Athens and joined the club's senior team in 2011.

The Milwaukee Bucks selected Antetokounmpo 15th overall in the 2013 NBA draft. In 2016 to 2017 he led the Bucks in all five major statistical categories, and he received the NBA Most Improved Player award in 2017. He won consecutive NBA Most Valuable Player awards in 2019 and 2020, and was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2020. In 2021 he led the Bucks to their first NBA championship since 1971 and was named Finals MVP. He has ten NBA All-Star selections.
