About George Russell
George William Russell is a British racing driver who competes in Formula One for Mercedes. He was born on 15 February 1998 in King's Lynn, where he was also raised. He began competitive kart racing aged seven and won back-to-back junior European Championship titles in 2011 and 2012, before moving to junior formulae.
Russell won his first title at the 2014 BRDC F4 Championship, then took the 2017 GP3 Series and the 2018 FIA Formula 2 Championship with ART. A member of the Mercedes Junior Team since 2017, he signed for Williams in 2019 and made his Formula One debut at the Australian Grand Prix. He scored his first podium at the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix, and in 2022 he replaced Valtteri Bottas at Mercedes. He won his first Grand Prix in São Paulo that year and later won in Austria and Las Vegas in 2024 and in Canada and Singapore in 2025.
