About Kelechi Iheanacho

Kelechi Promise Iheanacho is a Nigerian professional footballer who plays as a forward for the TFF First League club Bursaspor and the Nigeria national team. He was born on 3 October 1996 in Owerri. He began his senior career at Manchester City during the 2015 to 2016 season, winning the Football League Cup.

Iheanacho moved to Leicester City in 2017 for a reported £25 million, the largest transfer fee for a Nigerian player at the time. He scored a joint-high four goals as Leicester won the 2020 to 2021 FA Cup for the first time, and he scored the only goal, from the penalty spot, in the 2021 FA Community Shield. With Nigeria's under-17 team he was named best player at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup and finished as second-highest goalscorer as the side won a record fourth title. He made his senior debut in 2015 and has played at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and the 2021 and 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, finishing runner-up in 2023.
