About Stéphane Sessègnon

Stéphane Sessègnon is a Beninese former professional footballer. He was born on 1 June 1984 in Allahé. He played in a variety of positions as a forward, a winger and a midfield offensive playmaker.

Sessègnon began his career in Cotonou with the Benin Premier League side Requins de l'Atlantique and, after a year in the senior team, moved to France to join Créteil, where he joined the fellow international Noël Séka. He made his debut on the opening match day of the 2004 to 2005 Ligue 2 season against Stade Reims and scored his first goals on 14 January 2005, a brace in four minutes against Gueugnon. He was labelled a revelation as he helped the club escape relegation. He later signed a three-year deal with Le Mans. He represented Benin at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2008, 2010 and 2019, and is Benin's all-time top scorer and appearance maker, with 24 goals in 88 matches.
