About Lara Fabian

Lara Fabian, born Lara Sophie Katy Crokaert, is a Belgian and Canadian singer and songwriter. She was born on 9 January 1970 in Etterbeek, in the Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium, to a Flemish musician father and a Sicilian mother. She was raised between Catania, Sicily and Ruisbroek, Flemish Brabant, and spoke Italian as her first language.

Her parents enrolled her in the Royal Conservatory of Brussels at the age of eight, and she studied there for 10 years. During the 1980s she entered a number of European competitions and won several prizes, and she released her first single, L'Aziza est en pleurs, in 1986. She moved to Quebec in 1990 and has held Canadian citizenship alongside her Belgian one since 1995.

Fabian is listed at 163 cm (5'4"). She has sold over 12 million records worldwide, which makes her one of the best-selling Belgian artists of all time. She is married to Gabriel Di Giorgio.
