About Blake Griffin
Blake Griffin is an American former professional basketball player, born on 16 March 1989 in Oklahoma City. He won four high school state titles at Oklahoma Christian School under his father, head coach Tommy Griffin. He then played two seasons of college basketball for the Oklahoma Sooners, where he was named the consensus national college player of the year as a sophomore.
The Los Angeles Clippers selected Griffin first overall in the 2009 NBA draft, and he played primarily with them. He missed the entire 2009 to 2010 season after breaking his left kneecap, then made his NBA debut the following season, when he was selected as an All-Star, won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest and was named NBA Rookie of the Year. He was a six-time NBA All-Star and a five-time All-NBA selection. He was traded to the Detroit Pistons in January 2018, signed with the Brooklyn Nets in March 2021 and with the Boston Celtics in September 2022, staying until his retirement in 2023.
At a listed 208 cm (6'10"), Griffin was called one of the NBA's 15 Greatest Rookies of All Time by Sports Illustrated in 2011.
