About Hidayet Türkoğlu

Hidayet Türkoğlu, known as Hedo, is a Turkish basketball executive and former professional player, born on 19 March 1979 in Bayrampaşa. He joined Efes Pilsen, now known as Anadolu Efes, in 1996 and played four seasons with the team, helping it reach the 2000 EuroLeague Final Four.

The Sacramento Kings selected Türkoğlu with the 16th pick of the 2000 NBA draft, and he was the first Turkish-born player in NBA history. A forward, he played for six teams in his 15-season NBA career. He won the NBA Most Improved Player award for the 2007 to 2008 season and played in the NBA Finals for the Magic in 2009. He also played for Turkey's national team in international competition, and he has served as president of the Turkish Basketball Federation since October 2016.
