About Gheorghe Muresan

Gheorghe Muresan is a Romanian former professional basketball player, also known as the Giant. He was born on 14 February 1971 in Tritenii de Jos, Cluj County, Romania.

Muresan played for Universitatea Cluj and became national champion in 1992. He then spent the 1992 to 1993 season with Pau-Orthez in the French league and won the French League Cup. The Washington Bullets selected him in the 1993 NBA draft, and he played in the NBA from 1993 to 2000, though injuries affected his career.

At a listed 231 cm (7'7"), Muresan is one of the two tallest players to have played in the NBA. His parents were of fairly typical height, and he grew so tall because of gigantism, a pituitary gland disorder.
