About Azra Akın
Azra Akın is a Turkish-Dutch actress, dancer, model and beauty queen, born on 8 December 1981 in Almelo, Netherlands, to Turkish parents. Her father, Nazım, and mother, Ayda, emigrated from Turkey to the Netherlands in 1971. She has one younger sister named Doruk.
In 1998, at 17, Akın was selected Elite Model of Turkey and reached the final 15 at the Europe Elite Model competition in Nice, France. She modelled in Germany for the Otto catalogue. In 2002 she won Star TV's Miss Turkey and was crowned Miss World 2002 in London on 7 December 2002. In 2003 she won a gold medal on the British reality TV sports game show The Games.
